Teacher who bragged about turning his students into revolutionaries was fired

California high school teacher filmed bragging about having “180 days to transform them [his students] in revolutionaries “will be fired by the school district, the Natomas Unified School District said in a letter on Wednesday.

A Project Veritas video captured Gabriel Gipe, a government professor at Inderkum High School AP, explaining his plans for political radicalization and indoctrination of his students with his far-left ideology aligned with Antifa.

The Natomas Unified School District said in a letter that it spent two days investigating Gipe’s actions and his classroom environment. The district on Wednesday put Gipe on paid leave, but the district said it would then put him on unpaid leave before firing him.

“In this video, a teacher from Inderkum High School was recorded sharing his disturbing educational approach that undermines public confidence,” the letter from the Natomas Unified School District said. “By taking a day and a half to investigate beyond the video, the district was able to learn more facts essential to the next steps.”

The Natomas Unified School District has learned that Gipe has violated the district’s political action guidelines that outline what staff can and cannot do while teaching. Gipe received and opened copies of these guidelines in 2018 as well as in September 2020, according to the letter.

“For example, in addition to the inappropriate statements in the video, the teacher posted a sign supporting a personal decision on at least one local political issue, and possibly more,” the letter reads.

Gipe’s classroom was cleared of all posters and signage on Wednesday morning, according to the letter. On its walls, it hung an Antifa flag, a pride flag, a poster of Mao Zedong, a flag of the ruling North Korean party and a Planned Parenthood flyer, according to Pictures.

The Natomas Unified School District said Gipe purchased stamps with his own money that contained “an inappropriate image of Josef Stalin with an insensitive phrase, as well as other stamps with Fidel Castro, Kim Jung Un and others” .

The district’s investigation confirmed “that at least for the 13 days of this school year, he used these stamps to mark student work as completed.”

The district also confirmed that Gipe is encouraging students to attend events for additional credit, which is not unusual, but the district said some of the events shared by Gipe included sometimes dangerous activities. “The lack of parental involvement in this kind of sharing was both unprofessional and irresponsible.”

Some current and former students have expressed support for Gipe on social media, but the district said it has also listened to students who share their unease with their teacher’s opinions or actions. The district apologized to students who have felt uncomfortable in Gipe’s classroom for the past three years.

“Some students shared that the teacher said he thought the students would move to the left because of his class,” the letter said. “This is unacceptable.”

The district said history and social studies teachers should teach content that may be controversial, but district policy clearly states that “teaching should be presented in a balanced manner that does not favor any point of view. particular”.

Teachers should present content without bias or fostering personal beliefs and share facts from different perspectives, the letter said. “This teacher crossed that line and violated that trust.”
