Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], May 27 (ANI): TDP national chairman and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday criticized the YSRCP government for allegedly carrying out “state terrorism” to cover up its undemocratic, autocratic and authoritarian activities aimed at denying the civil liberties and the fundamental rights of the people in the state.
Naidu accused the ruling YSRCP leaders, the police and the rest of the official apparatus of stifling the voices of all sections of the people not to mention the leaders of the opposition parties.
The leader of the TDP elaborated on the government’s atrocities and brutality at length in his speech on the first day of the two-day digital Mahanadu, the party’s annual conclave.
Naidu recalled that in the past there was mainly the rig issue, but no other issues.
“But, under the YSRCP regime, attacks on the opposition were launched even before the elections began. Candidates were not allowed to be filed. Even if they were filed, the candidatures were declared invalid. only clear symptoms of democratic decline that the Andhra Pradesh High Court has commented on, “he said.

The leader of the TDP said he himself spent sleepless nights himself sometimes seeing the uncontrolled harassment of party leaders by the YSRCP. Naidu recalled how the illegal arrests started with Atchannaidu, Kollu Ravindra, Chintamaneni Prabhakar, JC Prabhakar Reddy, JC Asmith Reddy, Dhulipalla Narendra, Ramakrishna Reddy, B. Tech Ravi, BC Janardhan Reddy and even YSRC’s own rebel MP Raghama RajuP .
“Serious sections were filed to force leaders to go to jail without bail. Some sections slapped would give more than seven years in prison,” he said.
Naidu asked how a sedition case could be brought against a member of Lok Sabha like Raghu Ramakrishna Raju.
“Not only that, he was beaten in custody. It indicated the lowest levels to which democracy has declined in the PA. As a responsible opposition party, the TDP would continue to fight these atrocities. The police and the government, who broke the laws, would ultimately be accountable to the people, ”he said.
The TDP leader said Andhra Pradesh was stuck in a deep economic crisis even as the ruling party suppressed facts about the state’s economy. “The state revenue was only Rs. 83,000 Cr, but the government took over loans of Rs. 80,000 Cr. Other loans were also reportedly taken out, but the facts were not disclosed. The CM’s lack of a wealth creation plan has caused a huge catastrophe, “he added.
TDP leaders, in a resolution passed on the first day of the “Digital Mahanadu”, severely criticized Jaganmohan Reddy’s government for “failing” to come to the rescue of the people at a time of extreme threat from the coronavirus pandemic .
Naidu said the failure of Jagan Reddy’s regime to control the first wave of coronavirus has left the state a victim of the severe form of the second wave now. “At least now the AP government should wake up and rise to the occasion. Any further complacency would prove more dangerous as the Wave 3 infections would also wreak havoc on children. The government should abandon its careless attitude and start providing efficient facilities to save lives, ”he said. (ANI)
