Qazi Ahmed [Pakistan], July 30 (ANI): A mass protest erupts in Qazi Ahmed Town of Shaheed Behazir Abad District of Sindh Province as people challenge state terrorism amid rising cases of enforced disappearances.
Protesters shouted slogans saying “Stop State Terrorism, Fascism and Brutality in Sindh” and held banners demanding an end to enforced disappearances of political activists in Sindh.
Many of the protesters include women and children, whose family members have gone missing for months and years.
Sindh National Voice shared a long list of missing persons, including Nawab Mahr, Aslam Maheri, Aijaz Gaho and Hafeez Pirzado.
Many of these political activists belong to the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), a separatist political party that believes in separating Sindhudesh from Pakistan.
JSMM chairman Shafi Burfat, who lives in exile in Germany, told ANI: “The rally was organized for the safe release of political activists kidnapped by the ISI and the Pakistani military. Seven demonstrators were selected by secret agencies during the rally. “
Protests continue in different parts of Sindh province as people face brutality from security forces. Large numbers of political activists, journalists and other intellectuals are missing, allegedly abducted by secret agencies and held in isolated detention centers.
Sindh is a resource-rich Pakistani province, but the population faces immense poverty and unemployment.
A majority of people here demand Pakistan’s freedom, which has led the security agencies to silence the voice of dissent. (ANI)
